Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - It is impossible to raise the citizens' living standards, quality of social, medical services, etc. without a functional economy. On these grounds, the Alliance for European Integration adopted and implements a vast programme on Moldova's reformation, which sees, first of all, the re-launch of the national economy.

Acting President, Parliament Speaker Mihai Ghimpu made the above statement at a today's meeting with a group of French investors. Attending the event was also Ambassador of France to Moldova Pierre Andrieu, the presidential press service has said.

Mihai Ghimpu said that, to achieve these goals, the Moldovan leadership takes measures to create a friendly investment climate for the business environment by giving the latter possibility to invest in all the national economy fields. "Certainly, the investments in the state's economy could have been bigger, if there was a political stability in Moldova, which would allow implementing more long-term projects and programmes. But, no matter the present situation, the country's direction of development remains unchanged and will be promoted in the long run as well," the head of state stressed.

President Mihai Ghimpu discussed with French investors problems faced by the latter in their activity in Moldova, as well as solutions which are to be elaborated to overcome the crisis situations in the foreign business people's work in Moldova.

The French investors informed Mihai Ghimpu about the main problems which hinder the coming of investments in Moldova. "We trust Moldova, and consider that this country has potential and a European future. But to re-launch the economy and attract investments, deeper reforms are necessary in all the fields, especially the justice, control bodies, fiscal system, etc.," the head of the Mobiasbanca Groupe Societe Generale, leader of the French business people's group in Moldova Jean-Francois Myard said.

Referring to problems of loyal competition on the Moldovan market, the director-general of Lafarge Ciments Moldova, Frederick Aubet, said that the French investors agree with the fact that the market should be free and there should be competition. But he emphasized that the conditions should be equal for all the actors, and exclude cases when somebody benefit from facilities.

At the meeting, the business people from France also informed about problems they are confronting with while crossing the customs border or processing the necessary papers to carry out the activity of the enterprises which they represent.

Ambassador Pierre Andrieu said that Moldova is a friendly country for France. The diplomat stressed that his country will contribute, including by wooing of new investments in the Moldovan economy, to the state's development in all the areas. "The political predictability of the Alliance for European Integration inspire us with optimism, and is one of the reasons which attract French investments in Moldova," Pierre Andrieu said.
