Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Vlad Filat today held a news conference on the results of his visit to Brussels, the government's communications and press relations department has said. Vlad Filat said that he had a meeting with Yves Leterme, Prime Minister of Belgium, which holds the EU Council's Presidency, within which the sides discussed the bilateral relations between the two states and Moldova's European prospect. "The Belgian presidency is extremely important for Moldova. Belgium supports Moldova on the way of the initiated reforms on the country's democratization and getting closer to EU," the prime minister said. The prime minister also said that, at a meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule, he discussed the possibility to as soon as possible receive the European Commission's recommendations on the deep and comprehensive free trade zone and launch negotiations on the Agreement on Free and Comprehensive Free Trade. Also, the sides discussed the government's commitment as regards the preparation for the dialogue on the visa regime's liberalization. In September 2010, European experts are to carry out an evaluation mission to this end, after which a roadmap for Moldova will be prepared. Also next September, EU will convey to Moldova recommendations to negotiations on the agreement on deep and comprehensive free trade. "Moldova relies on the European Commission's support to get a roadmap regarding the liberalized visa regime next autumn. Once we receive this document, Moldova's citizens will get possibility to freely move to the EU area in 18 months. Also, two years are necessary at the most to sign this document starting from the launch of the talks on the Agreement on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade," the prime minister specified. Vlad Filat said that, during his meetings, he asked the European Commission to increase the share of export of Moldovan wines to the EU market. The prime minister said that EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Dacian Ciolos confirmed that all the necessary demarches have been made to this end, and the specific procedures to such situations are to start soon. "The share given to the Moldovan wines on the EU market will be doubled, so that we will be able to export up to 35 million bottles. During the first six months of 2010, 85 per cent of the share reserved for Moldova was used, which shows that there is demand for Moldovan wines," the prime minister said. Vlad Filat specified that he is satisfied with his visit to Brussels, stressing that he found understanding on behalf of European officials. "I felt support for Moldova. We have friends, partners who will not leave us alone before difficulties," Vlad Filat said. The prime minister emphasized that he received assurances that the European Union will help Moldova to alleviate the floods' consequences. The participants in the meeting also discussed Moldova's political agenda. The prime minister said that he received a clear message from European officials as regards the observance of the earlier reached agreements - organization of a referendum on 5 September, and afterwards of the parliamentary and presidential elections. Vlad Filat said that the authorities will ensure the best conditions for the holding of the polls democratically, thus consolidating the started processes of Moldova's democratization.
